At Nuance Enneagram Coaching, I believe the journey toward self-discovery is one of life’s most fulfilling adventures. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching space for you to explore your motivations, understand your relationships, and become the healthiest version of yourself.
What Is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a self-awareness and growth tool that reveals the core motivations behind your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Unlike other personality systems that focus on external traits, the Enneagram helps you understand why you do what you do—offering insight into both your strengths and challenges.

With nine personality types, each shaped by unique fears and desires, the Enneagram provides a roadmap for breaking unhelpful patterns, improving relationships, and living with more intention. It’s not about labeling you—it’s about understanding yourself and others on a deeper level.
Type Ones strive to live with purpose and do what’s right. They often feel a strong inner drive to improve themselves and the world around them. Their growth comes from embracing compassion—both for themselves and others.
Twos are caring, supportive, and naturally tuned to the needs of others. Beneath this generosity is a deep desire to feel loved and valued. Their growth lies in honoring their own needs with the same care they freely give.
Threes are motivated by the desire to be seen as capable and accomplished. They’re driven, adaptable, and goal-oriented. Their growth begins when they embrace authenticity over performance and learn that their worth isn’t tied to achievement.
Fours long to express their true identity and be understood at a deep emotional level. They are introspective and intuitive. Their growth comes from grounding themselves in the present and recognizing the beauty in ordinary moments.
Fives seek clarity, understanding, and independence. They often retreat inward to make sense of the world. Their growth path involves trusting their inner resources and engaging more fully with life and relationships.
Sixes value stability and preparation. They are loyal, thoughtful, and highly aware of potential risks. Their growth begins when they learn to trust themselves, build confidence, and move forward even when uncertainty is present.
Sevens are energized by possibilities and new experiences. They seek joy, freedom, and adventure. Their growth comes from slowing down, staying present, and discovering the contentment that exists beyond constant activity.
Eights desire independence, strength, and control over their environment. They are assertive, resourceful, and protective of the people they love. Their growth develops through vulnerability, openness, and trusting others more deeply.
Nines seek inner calm and external harmony. They value unity and often act as mediators. Their growth comes from recognizing their own voice, embracing their desires, and showing up fully in their relationships and daily life.
Our Philosophy
Individuality Over Labels: Many personality systems can feel like they’re putting you in a box. The Enneagram does the opposite—it uncovers why you think, feel, and act the way you do. In other words, it helps you get out of the box you didn't even know you were in.
Growth Through Self Awareness: True personal development starts with awareness. Once you see your unhelpful patterns, you can replace them with more balanced ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. This process is compassionate and challenging—celebrating your gifts while facing your blind spots.
Better Together: The Enneagram isn’t just about self-discovery; it’s also about understanding how others see the world. We often hear the phrase, “Treat others how you want to be treated,” but what if that’s not enough? Kristen believes in a revised Golden Rule—“Treat others how THEY want to be treated.”
Each Enneagram type has different motivations, fears, and needs. By understanding how someone else naturally thinks and feels, we can communicate in a way that resonates with them, not just with us. This shift fosters deep empathy, stronger connections, and healthier communication in families, friendships, workplaces, and communities. True connection comes not from assuming others think like we do, but from honoring and appreciating the unique way they experience the world.
Our Symbol (The Butterfly)
The butterfly is a potent symbol of transformation and freedom—themes that resonate deeply with the Enneagram journey. Like the caterpillar that evolves through the cocoon stage, personal change can feel daunting yet exhilarating. When we emerge with new insights, we experience a sense of lightness, joy, and renewed possibility.
Metamorphosis: The Enneagram encourages us to shed limiting beliefs and move toward a more expansive, authentic life.
Beauty in Diversity: Butterflies come in endless varieties, each with its own patterns and hues—just like people. We’re all different, yet all beautiful.

Hello! I’m Kristen Caldwell, a Certified Enneagram Coach and Adaptive Sports Instructor with a background in Recreational Therapy (MA, CTRS). I live in Heber City, Utah with my partner and 3 children. I enjoy skiing, mountain biking, reading, and good conversation.

How I Found the Enneagram
I majored in Psychology in college and I’ve always been drawn to understanding why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. I’ve taken multiple personality tests over the years, but none of them quite captured the depth of who I was—until I found the Enneagram. Instead of putting me in a box, it revealed the nuance (hence my business name) of my personality and helped me understand the various parts of me. I was able to recognize and celebrate my strengths, while acknowledging and challenging my blind spots.
The Walt Whitman Effect
One of my favorite quotes is from Walt Whitman:
“Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)”
This idea resonates deeply with me—and with the Enneagram itself. We aren’t just one thing. We are complex, layered, and ever-evolving. The Enneagram embraces this truth, allowing us to explore our contradictions, accept ourselves fully, and grow in ways that feel authentic.
Why I Do This Work
After years of self-study, I became a Certified Enneagram Coach and launched Nuance Enneagram Coaching to help others along their personal growth journey. My goal is to guide you toward greater self-understanding, stronger relationships, and evolving into the best version of yourself.
